An underground world of wonder and amazement awaits visitors to the Natural Bridge Caverns in San Antonio. Texas' largest cavern features daily guided tours through its seemingly endless maze of chamber after chamber, one the size of a football field.
Four adventurous college students discovered the massive caverns in 1960. The stalagmite and flowstone passages formed more than 12,000 years ago and are still growing. Visitors will notice a sheen on many of the formations from the water that continues to flow and shape the Texas Hill Country limestone beneath the surface of the earth.
If you're visiting San Antonio, you won't want to miss the natural beauty of the Natural Bridge Caverns, which is listed as a US Natural Landmark, among other important historical designations.
The caverns have been developed to include a walking guided tour and a special section to pan for gems and fossils. More adventurous visitors will want to try the rock climbing tower and zip lines, viewing the Natural Bridge Caverns in the same manner as the original college students who discovered earth's unlimited beauty, even underground.
Open year round from 9 am - 4 pm. Also features a gift shop, snack bar, picnic areas, and more. Group rates available.
